Franklin and the other unique communities of Williamson County are located approximately 20 miles south of downtown Nashville TN and are easily accessible via I-65. Located in the heart of Middle Tennessee, it encompasses a scenic and cultural treasure of beautiful rolling countryside woven intricately with quaint small towns, metropolitan landscapes and a rich heritage of traditions. Franklin TN was founded in 1799 and is the county seat of Williamson County. As the country seat, Franklin is the hub of local government. It also has cultural and entertainment options, as well as, home to commerce and healthcare. Several large companies including Nissan U.S., Verizon Wireless, Community Health Systems, Healthways, Inc. and Mars Petcare U.S. have their corporate headquarters here.
Franklin's quaint and thriving historic downtown is usually the first image that comes to mind when you think of this city. It was named one of Money Magazine's Top 10 Places to Retire and Top 100 Places to Live.
